Red, Hot and Cole benefit for Well in the Desert, featuring music of Cole Porter

27 August 2012

INDIO, California -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- “Just One of Those Things” is a song Cole Porter made famous. For Cabazon Band of Mission Indians and Fantasy Springs Resort Casino Legal Affairs Director Paul MacKey, helping Well in the Desert is just one of those things that he feels compelled to do.

MacKey, along with jazz impresario Brian Nova, will channel Porter during the September 19 benefit inside LIT Lounge in Fantasy Springs. The pair, along with other musicians, will take the crowd back to the 1930s and 40s when Cole Porter ruled the Broadway stage.

The Cabazon Band of Mission Indians is a huge supporter of Well in the Desert, providing daily food donations which help the charity feed thousands of people every month. MacKey says, “This is the right thing to do. You need food, air and water to live. Air and water are free but food is not.” Last year MacKey performed multiple musical benefits for the Well, raising $30,000. He says for this show, the goal is $6,000 in one night.

Tickets to the 7pm Red, Hot and Cole benefit are $40 and include a light buffet. All proceeds from the event go to Well in the Desert’s food programs. Call (800)827.2946 or log onto www.fantasyspringsresort.com for tickets.
