Racing Might Escape Anti-Terror Bills that Include Internet Gambling

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- As reported by the Thoroughbred Times: "Horse racing account-wagering companies might not be affected by recent amendments added to a pair of bills being considered for federal anti-terrorism legislation that would restrict the use of credit cards for Internet gambling.

"An amendment attached to a House bill would make it illegal for credit card and banking companies to allow bettors to make deposits with Internet gambling companies, but currently do not impose such restrictions on horse racing account-wagering companies.

"Another bill in the Senate would ban sports betting on the Internet, with the exception of horse racing..."
