Prosecutor: Underage gambling not unusual22 February 2008ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey -- As reported by the Philadelphia Inquirer: "Underage gamblers show up in municipal court in Atlantic City nearly every day, a prosecutor said this morning, a day after the Borgata was fined a record $105,000 for allowing a 19-year-old to gamble there as a rated player for more than a year. "Municipal court records confirmed the identity of the gambler, now 21, as Alex Pawlyk, of Basking Ridge, N.J. who was arrested inside the Borgata on Sept. 5, 2006. "Howard Freed, chief municipal prosecutor for Atlantic City, said the city gets 4 to 6 underage gambling cases a week, most involving 18, 19 and 20 year olds, most ending, like Pawlyk's case, in a guilty plea, a $500 fine and revokation of driving priviledges..." |
