Proposed Foxwoods Casino Details Revealed7 March 2006PENNSYLVANIA – As reported by the Philadelphia Inquirer: "The $350 million casino planned for the Delaware River waterfront in South Philadelphia that would be operated by the tribe behind Connecticut's Foxwoods Resort Casino would generate 954 jobs and $29.2 million in tax revenue for the city. "The details are contained in a 50-page economic impact report that Foxwoods Development Corp. submitted to the City of Philadelphia and the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board yesterday. "Foxwoods envisioned three significant phases for the casino, generating a total of $825 million in investment. "At first, Foxwoods Casino Philadelphia would open with 3,000 slot machines, several restaurants, and an entertainent venue. "In the project's second phase, operators would add 2,000 slot machines and other attractions, increasing the workforce to 1,254 jobs at Foxwoods and city tax revenue to $37.8 million. Adding a 500-room hotel and health spa in the final phase could lift the number of employees to 1,780 at the casino and produce $45.5 million in city tax revenue, according to the report.
