Proposal to change French Lick casino revenue sharing

FRENCH LICK, Indiana – As reported by the Bedford Times-Mail: "A proposal to change the way casino-related revenues are distributed in Orange County is drawing favor from the Historic Hotels Preservation Commission.

"HHPC members concluded Tuesday they support a modified plan for distributing casino dollars, even though it means diverting money from a fund designed to help preserve the West Baden Springs Hotel.

"But other provisions of legislation that State Rep. Jerry Denbo, D-French Lick, is proposing as part of the state budget bill continue to divide Denbo and HHPC members.

"…The same legislation that outlines the new funding allocation also calls for dissolving the HHPC and replacing it with a newly formed board that would carry out responsibilities outlined in the bill. As part of the proposed legislation, limitations would be placed on who could serve as part of the new group…"
