Prop B challenge sent to Superior Court31 October 2006GUAM -- As reported by the Pacific Daily News: "The challenge to the slot-machine initiative will be heard in the Superior Court of Guam after all, and the next hearing in the case has been scheduled for 10 a.m. today. "Gambling opponents Lina'la Sin Casino have asked the court to remove the slot-machine initiative, Proposal B, from the Nov. 7 General Election ballot, alleging that the Guam Election Commission broke laws and rules while preparing the measure for voters. "The first issue to be resolved is whether or not slot-machine supporters will be allowed to join the case to represent their own interests in the matter. As it stands, the lawsuit is only against the Election Commission, and Barcinas this morning will hear arguments on whether to allow others to join the case..." |
