Problem Gambler Sparks Investigation

NEW ZEALAND – As reported by TV NZ: "The Dunedin Casino is under investigation after a woman, who put $5 million across their tables, was jailed for stealing $500,000 to feed her gambling habit.

"Christine Marie Keenan stole $500,000 and gambled $5 million over two years to fuel her addiction.

"The investigation is the first of its kind since the new gambling act came in to force in July.

"Under the act casino's are required to take action to minimise problem gambing.

"…The casino says it does have policies as required by the new act and will continue to actively help people with gambling addictions.

"The department has a number of options under the act if Dunedin Casino is found to have done anything wrong…"
