Pro-Casino Group Petition Campaign Falls Short31 May 2006OHIO – As reported by the Plain Dealer: "A group trying to land a casino in Cincinnati has failed again to gather enough signatures to launch a statewide campaign for the November ballot. "Queen City Gaming Entertainment Inc. failed to collect the 1,000 valid signatures it needs to have a summary of proposed ballot language approved by the state attorney general and circulated statewide. "Jerry Austin, spokesman for the Queen City group, alleged Tuesday that its signature-gathering company -- National Voter Outreach of Ludington, Mich. -- may have sabotaged the signature effort because the company may be working for a competing casino campaign called the Ohio Learn and Earn Committee. "Learn and Earn is proposing slots parlors at Ohio's seven horse tracks and two locations in Cleveland…" |
