Priest Sorry for Stealing

EDWARDSVILLE, Illinois – As reported by the Associated Press: "A Catholic priest who took more than $200,000 from his church to support his gambling habit says he wants his former congregation to know he's sorry.

"The Rev. Gerald Bunse, 52, resigned in January as pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church in Edwardsville after taking $226,000. He has since received treatment for his gambling problem and been reassigned to Our Savior Church in Jacksonville as a priest in residence.

"…Bunse said he has arranged to repay the money and now attends weekly gambling anonymous meetings…"
