Preakness Ratings Best Since 1990

UNITED STATES – As reported by the Thoroughbred Times: "The Preakness Stakes (G1) telecast on NBC from Pimlico Race Course on May 15 earned a 6.1 rating and 15 share, a 22% increase over last year's final ratings for the middle jewel of the Triple Crown.

"One ratings point equals 1.086-million homes while share measures the percentage of televisions on tuned to a particular program. Total viewership reached 15-million, a 25% gain over the 12-million who watched the race last year, according to NBC.

"The network began televising the Triple Crown in 2001, and all four Preakness telecasts since then have been the top-rated since 1990. This year's broadcast was on the air from 5-6:50 p.m. EDT…"
