Poll: Waterpark Site Favored for Iowa Casino

WATERLOO, Iowa – As reported by the Cedar Falls Courier: "The Isle of Capri's proposed hotel and casino near Lost Island Adventurepark holds the most water with participants in the Courier's online poll.

"Nearly half of the more than 4,000 votes cast in the survey, which ended at 12 a.m. today, favored the Biloxi, Miss.-based company's plans for a gaming facility near the intersection of U.S. Highways 218, 20 and 380 on Waterloo's southeast side.

"Cedar Landing Hotel & Casino, a proposed downtown joint venture between local investors and Catfish Bend Casino in Fort Madison, came in second in the balloting at nearly 31 percent.

"Trailing the pack by a wide margin at 11 percent was the Black Hawk County Greyhound Park and Casino at the former Waterloo Greyhound Park, which would be owned by the National Cattle Congress and operated as a joint venture between private investors and the Meskwaki tribe…"
