Poll Shows Support for Ohio Tribal Casino

LIMA, Ohio – As reported by the Lima News: "Preliminary poll results show strong and diverse support across Allen County for an Eastern Shawnee Tribe casino and resort development.

"Early data released Thursday by the tribe from a poll done earlier this month shows 56.9 percent favor the Shawnee project, while 26.3 percent oppose it and 16.7 percent are undecided or neutral on the idea.

"The poll, commissioned by the Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma and conducted by an in-dependent firm, shows that people support the complex for the construction and permanent jobs it would mean, tribe spokesman Terry Casey said.

"Those who oppose the project do so over concerns about crime and drugs and because of a moral objection to gambling.

"…Mayor David Berger said the poll confirms what he has always believed: A wide demographic support the development…"
