Poll: Sedgwick county supports slots

KANSAS – As reported by the Wichita Eagle: "If Sedgwick County voters approve, they could be feeding slot machines at Wichita Greyhound Park by year's end.

"Full-scale casino gambling with table games, roulette and craps could follow by 2009.

"Sebelius laid out that ambitious timeline Wednesday at a ceremony at Wichita Mid-Continent Airport to sign a bill that authorizes and regulates expanded gambling for the next quarter-century.

"Sedgwick County voters appear poised to say yes to a casino.

"A new KWCH-12 Eyewitness News/Wichita Eagle poll shows that seven out of 10 voters approve of expanded gambling in the area. They'll get their chance to vote for or against it in a special election Aug. 7.

"It could mean the first real casino gambling in Wichita in 130 years…"
