Poll: Many Undecided About Pennsylvania Slot Bill

PENNSYLVANIA -- As reported by the Morning Call: "Pennsylvania school districts have exactly two weeks to decide if they want to opt in to a controversial state law that uses slot machine revenue to reduce property taxes.

"After spending thousands on consultants, holding public hearings and forming special advisory committees about Act 72, hundreds of school boards remain undecided with 14 days to go before the May 30 deadline.

"And taxpayers aren't so sure themselves.

"A new Morning Call/Muhlenberg College poll shows that a majority of Lehigh Valley residents support Act 72 — about 46 percent either 'strongly support' or 'somewhat support' the Homeowner Tax Relief Act, which is another name for the state law.

"…Pennsylvania school districts that opt in to Act 72 will share a projected $1 billion in anticipated slots revenue from the state…"
