Poll: Majority Supports Michigan Casino Proposal

DETROIT, Michigan – As reported by the Detroit Free-Press: "One month before the November election, supporters of a controversial casino ballot proposal are leading by a 2-1 margin, according to a recent Free Press poll.

"A survey of 830 registered voters conducted Sept. 22-28 found that 56 percent were in support of Proposal 1; 28 percent were opposed, and 16 percent were undecided. Among likely voters, support for the initiative rose to 59 percent; 29 percent were opposed, and 13 percent were undecided.

"…The proposed amendment to the state's constitution would require voters to approve any new form of legalized gambling in Michigan, including video lottery and slot machines. The only exempt gambling would be casinos operated by American-Indian tribes and the three Detroit casinos: MGM Grand Detroit Casino, MotorCity Casino and Greektown Casino…"
