Poll: Buffalo Votes Prefer Downtown Casino10 May 2004BUFFALO, New York – As reported by the Buffalo News: "Erie County voters feel shut out of the decision-making over a new Seneca casino, and their preference for locating it is downtown Buffalo, not Cheektowaga, according to a Buffalo News poll. "The survey of city and suburban voters found widespread support for a new Seneca-owned casino in Erie County but far less support for locating it in Cheektowaga. "Of the 702 voters surveyed for The News, about 45 percent said they preferred downtown as a casino site. About 32 percent said they favored Cheektowaga, the location the Seneca Nation of Indians chose last month. "…The poll, done by Zogby International, also found a small majority of voters in the county and even more in the city who feel disenfranchised by the casino project. "…The countywide survey, conducted 10 days ago, is based on telephone interviews with 351 city residents and 351 suburban residents. The poll has margins of error of plus or minus 3.8 percent for the countywide results and 5.3 percent for the city and suburban results…" |
