Police Shut Down Illegal Gambling Operation16 June 2004OTTAWA -- As reported by the CBC: ``Police say they have broken up an illegal gambling ring, after conducting raids in Ottawa's west end Tuesday. ``At dawn, officers with the Ontario Provincial Police, Ottawa police and RCMP raided several homes and one business, including a home on Churchill Avenue, where police say Domenic Zappia, 55, was operating a gaming house. ``The operation ends a four-month police investigation. Police seized $220,000 in cash, a handgun and gaming tables..." |
