Police Officer Who Cashed Stolen Casino Chip Resigns26 November 2003NEWTOWN, Connecticut -- As reported by the Associated Press: ``A town police officer accused of cashing a stolen gambling chip at the Mohegan Sun Casino has resigned. ``Officer Michael Riccio, 26, submitted a one-sentence resignation letter effective Nov. 19, Newtown Police Chief Michael Kehoe said Tuesday. ``In October, state police charged Riccio with conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny after he allegedly received a stolen $5,000 chip from a man who worked at the casino.
