Pokies ban 'to cost jobs'

TASMANIA -- The Tasmanian Hospitality Association has spoken out against a Green plan to phase out poker machines, The Mercury reported.

The Tasmanian Greens plan aims to begin with a $1 maximum betting limit en route to a total ban on the machines, The Mercury said.

Tasmanian Hospitality Association defended harm minimization strategies and pointed out 23,000 Tasmanians are employed in the hospitality sector and jobs will be threatened by this plan, The Mercury reported.
