Poker revenues up $2.4 million at Bonita track

BONITA SPRINGS, Florida -- As reported by Naples News: "Florida residents and visitors gambled more money in 2007 thanks to a diversity of gaming options, but it still didn't help the struggling dog track industry.

"Poker has become the biggest hit and the Naples-Fort Myers Greyhound Track was one of the biggest benefactors. The revenues in the 30-table card room in Bonita Springs increased 63 percent 2007, netting the track a whopping $2.4 million dollars more in action than the previous year.

"...A big reason for the 2007 increase was the new poker rules that starting in July 2007 allowed the card rooms at the state's greyhound tracks to offer more popular games, including no limit Texas Hold 'Em.

"...The 1,082 poker tables in Florida now make up 16 percent of the poker facilities in the United States..."
