1 October 2013

LAS VEGAS -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Throughout the month of October, the Plaza Hotel and Casino will offer guests a variety of opportunities to support breast cancer awareness, with proceeds benefiting breast cancer charities.

During the NFL and college football games on Saturdays and Sundays in October, customers at the Plaza can buy a special "Tackle Breast Cancer" bottled beer and koozie or a "Pink Ribbon" soda and koozie at any of the Plaza's bars, including the Z bar, Omaha Bar and Race & Sports Book Bar. Z Bar will also sell fresh popcorn in a special pink ribbon box. A portion of the sales of these special items will be donated to Susan G. Komen of Southern Nevada.

Tuesdays through Thursdays in the casino, guests who earn 500 points will receive a breast cancer awareness ball cap (while supplies last) and be eligible to draw for random free play. The Plaza's bingo hall will also offer a 3-on-1 Pink Ribbon Strip for $2 each plus a free "Play for Pink" dauber (while supplies last) with a portion of the proceeds going to the Breast Cancer Awareness Research Foundation.

The Plaza's dining and entertainment partners will also have their own programs to support breast cancer awareness in October.

-Every day in October, Hash House A Go Go at the Plaza will donate $1 from every purchase of a special pancake of the day to the Southern Nevada affiliate of Susan G. Komen.
-Pop Up Pizza will offer 2 slices of cheese pizza and a medium drink for $6.99 when diners mention “Breast Cancer Awareness” and will donate $1 from each order to Susan G. Komen of Southern Nevada.
-Exposed Salon will offer free haircuts in October to customers who donate their hair to Locks for Love. The salon will also host a special ESPN live radio broadcast at 3 p.m., on Oct. 25, during which prizes and gifts will be awarded to those who donate their hair.

-The Phat Pack will donate a portion of every ticket sold to the group’s Wednesday night shows in October to Susan G. Komen of Southern Nevada.

"Breast cancer awareness is a cause that is near and dear to many of the Plaza's employees," said Michael Pergolini, general manager of the Plaza Hotel & Casino. "We wanted to take this opportunity to give back to the efforts being done in our local community to support cancer research and patient services, while also giving our guests a chance to participate, too."
