Player wins $350k Bad Beat Jackpot at Americas Cardroom

10 April 2012

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica (PRESS RELEASE) –- It's every poker player's nightmare to lose a hand of Hold'em while holding quad 8s. But for BingoTroy at Americas Cardroom, it was a dream come true.

On April 8th, the online poker player popped Americas Cardroom's Bad Beat Jackpot just one week away from the Liberty Quarter Million tournament on April 15, where $250,000 will be guaranteed in the largest online poker tournament available to US players.

It happened at a low stake no-limit Hold'em table in a faceoff against "DoyleFlush," who won the hand with a straight flush. BingoTroy takes home $49,564.36, and the winner of the hand, DoyleFlush, left the table with a solid $33,039.57.

But it's not just the recipient of the bad beat who walks away a winner when the jackpot hits. The winner of any Bad Beat Jackpot losing hand stands to win 20 percent of the jackpot, and those who participated in the dealt hand will share 10 percent of the jackpot (30 percent of every jackpot goes to reseed the next big one). Sharing in the 10 percent was Coin22, EZTILT67 and Sdgrinder who earned $5,508.24 each for participating in the hand. Americas Cardroom paid a total of $99,128.65 in Bad Beat Jackpot winnings this weekend.

In addition to the Bad Beat Jackpot winnings paid yesterday, poker players also cashed in a second successful weekend as part of Liberty Weekends, five weekends of online poker tournaments featuring half-a-million dollars in guaranteed prize pools. The Saturday $10,000 Guaranteed saw its prize pool increased to $12,250 thanks to the 128 players who registered for the tournament. map01 took first place for $2,817.50.

The $50k on Sunday was equally remarkable with a field of 184 fighting for the $50,600 prize pool. Kepdog1 ended the game as the last man standing for $11,385.

The centerpiece of Liberty Weekends will be Americas Cardroom's Liberty Quarter Million on April 15th at 7:00 p.m. ET, for which a guaranteed $250,000 prize pool will be on the table in a single no-limit Hold'em tournament. The winner of the event is assured of taking home at least $50,000.

Players looking to satellite into the Liberty Quarter Million can participate in Americas Cardoom's 250-seat Super Satellite on April 13, beginning at 8:00 p.m. ET. The event has 250 seats guaranteed in the April 15 Liberty Quarter Million, and costs $36+3 to enter.

All Liberty Weekend events contribute points to Americas Cardroom's April $60,000 Points Race. Saturday events will award 200 points, while the Sunday tournaments and 250-Seat Super Satellite on Friday will award 1,000 points. The $250,000 Guaranteed Tournament on April 15 will award 7,500 points in the Race.
