Plains Township gets first casino payment27 February 2007PLAINS TOWNSHIP, Pennsylvania – As reported by the Citizen's Voice: "The township on Monday received its first cut of gaming revenue from the state's first casino. "Ron Filippini, chairman of the Plains Township Board of Commissioners, said the township received a $295,800 check from the state Department of Revenue, which is based on business at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs from its opening Nov. 14 through Dec. 31. "Gross revenue at Mohegan was $21.7 million in November and December, and it is $21.5 million so far this year, according to the state Gaming Control Board. The state collected $11.9 million of that amount from last year and has collected $11.8 million so far this year. "The township expects to receive $2.2 million this year because state gaming legislation limits the township's amount to one half of its annual budget from 2003-04. Filippini said the state would disburse gaming revenue to the township quarterly…" |
