Pirates won't block casino

PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania -- As reported by the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review: "Work on Majestic Star Casino could start as soon as the city Planning Commission approves the building's foundation and steel structure, possibly on Tuesday.

"'We're not going to stop them from breaking ground,' Pirates spokesman Brian Warecki said.

"The Pirates and Steelers appealed the Planning Commission's approval of a casino master development plan to the state Supreme Court, which isn't expected to rule until at least September.

"...But when the casino opens, the team anticipates backups extending along most major arteries entering the city..."
