Pinnacle request denied10 May 2007LOUISIANA -- As reported by the Louisiana Advocate: "Pinnacle Entertainment's bid to schedule a July 21 election for its proposed south Baton Rouge riverboat casino turned out to be a bust Wednesday. "The Metro Council refused to grant Pinnacle's request to waive the deadline that passed last month for getting on the state Bond Commission agenda to request the July 21 referendum. That means Oct. 20 is the earliest Pinnacle can get a parishwide referendum scheduled. "...Several other council members, including Pat Culbertson, who represents the district where Pinnacle plans to build the casino, expressed concern about pushing to get Pinnacle on the Bond Commission next week because details are so sketchy. Pinnacle officials said the full details of their plan are to be released Tuesday at the state Gaming Board meeting..." |
