Pinnacle plans Louisiana inland casino

LOUISIANA – As reported by the Advocate: "Pinnacle Entertainment confirmed Monday that its proposed south Baton Rouge riverboat casino would operate inland on a large pond between River Road and Nicholson Drive, and not be berthed directly on the Mississippi River.

"Pinnacle President Wade Hundley said that because of space limitations and the physical layout of the property, the company wants to place its riverboat in a large man-made pool of water created between both roads.

"If approved, however, that arrangement would mark a significant departure from the way Louisiana floating casinos are required to operate on major waterways.

"…State regulators are examining Pinnacle's proposal to build a $250 million riverboat casino-hotel resort near the Mississippi River near Bluebonnet Boulevard that could open by late 2009. Regulators have not indicated when their decision will be rendered…"
