Philly could lose casino license

31 May 2010

HARRISBURG, Philadelphia -- There's some concern for one of Philadelphia's two state casino licenses, according to the Harrisburg Post-Gazette.

Legislators are frustrated at the delay in building the proposed $500 million property Foxwoods, the report noted.

Foxwoods secured the license in 2006 but has faced challenges raising capital and has met resistance from some residents, Harrisburg Post-Gazette reported.

The ground has yet to be broken on Foxwoods and legislators are already insisting that if the license is lost, bidding should be opened up to the entire state, the report said.
