Philippines' Government Goes After Game Machines

PHILIPPINES – As reported by the Philippine Star: "After jueteng, the government is now cracking down on video karera and fruit game machines.

"Interior and Local Government Secretary Angelo Reyes ordered the Philippine National Police (PNP) yesterday to seize and immediately destroy coin-operated video karera and fruit game machines as part of the intensified campaign against illegal gambling.

"…He issued the order after reports reaching his office showed that video karera operators are now targeting young bettors, including students and the out-of-school youth, by introducing a new vice — fruit game machines…"
