Philippine Police Reminded to Stop Illegal Gambling

PHILIPPINES – As reported by the INQ7.net: "The leadership of the Philippine National Police (PNP) reminded provincial directors of their duty to stop illegal gambling activities in their respective areas of jurisdiction or face relief, a police spokesman told INQ7.net Thursday.

"`They have to hit them (gambling operators) hard and paralyze them,' Senior Superintendent Joel Goltiao said in a telephone interview.

"…Goltiao said that if a regional commander were performing poorly, a team from the Camp Crame national police headquarters would be sent to his area.

"He said if the team were able to arrest a gambling operator, the commander would be relieved…"
