Philippine Police Claim Victory Over Illegal Gambling

KIDAPAWAN CITY, Philippines – As reported by the Minda News: "The Philippine National Police (PNP) here has claimed that it has succeeded in the campaign against any form of illegal gambling in the city's 40 barangays.

"Insp. Alfredo Baluran, the deputy chief of police, disclosed that they have conducted 24 operations against illegal gambling from January to June, resulting in the apprehension of 40 'last two' ushers and five big time financiers, particularly in Barangay Poblacion and in nursery site phase I-II.

"…Supt. Danny Reyes, chief of police of this city, attributed the success of their campaign against illegal gambling to the cooperation of the constituents, including barangay officials…"
