Philippine Board to Review Lotto Regulation

PHILIPPINES – As report by the Sun Star News: "The Provincial Board will review Provincial Ordinance Number 4 that regulates the operation of lotto terminals in Negros Oriental in the wake of recent developments on the legal issue of the game in Dumaguete City.

"Vice Governor Jose Petit Baldado said the review was necessary following the order of the Ombudsman and the Court of Appeals against Dumaguete City Vice Mayor William Ablong and acting City Legal Officer Neil Ray Lagahit.

"Both are out on a P15,000 bail each for direct contempt before the sala of Judge Victor Patrimonio of the Regional Trial Court.

"The direct contempt charge came after the two officials closed the lotto outlet of Teresita Zamora.

"Baldado said the two officials are invoking the ordinance in their argument to close the lotto operation…"
