PGCB posts applicants

PENNSYLVANIA -- As reported by the Philadelphia Inquirer: "The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has posted filings of the four applicants for the final two resort slots licenses on its Web site, pgcb.state.pa.us.

"Among the applicants vying for the right to put 500 slot machines at an existing resort hotel is Valley Forge Convention Center Partners L.P. of King of Prussia. The partnership aims to put slots at the Valley Forge Convention Center to help boost tourism in that area.

"The applications are similar in their scope and promises. Each presents its project as an economic boon to the prospective community, with minimal traffic impact and social negatives. Each claims to be environmentally friendly, and says future economic benefits will outweigh the costs of additional police, sewer systems and roads to accommodate an anticipated increase in visitors.

"...A gaming board spokesman said next month's hearings would enable the commissioners to determine if the applicants met the criteria set forth under the Pennsylvania Race Horse Development and Gaming Act of 2004, which allows up to 61,000 slot machines at 14 venues throughout the state..."
