Perini Finishes Saratoga Track in Five Months28 January 2004PHOENIX, Arizona -- (Press Release) -- After five months of rigorous, fast track construction activity, Perini Building Company, Inc. announces the opening of a new $15 million, 55,000-square-foot gaming facility at Saratoga Gaming and Raceway in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. Saratoga Gaming and Raceway holds the distinction of being the first of eight new video gaming facilities licensed in New York State to open. Construction of the Adirondack-themed casino -- managed by Perini Building Company's Framingham-based (Boston) office -- began on August 25, 2003 and included 20,000 square feet of new construction and the renovation of 35,000 square feet beneath the existing grandstand. Designed by Jeter Cook &Jepson Architects of Hartford, Conn., the new gaming floor boasts over 1,300 video gaming machines (VGMs), a bar and food court with several dining options, a gift shop, and a variety of guest services desks. New finishes, flooring, and an acoustical ceiling were installed in the 30,000-square-foot simulcast area on the second floor. An additional 10,000 square feet of basement space was renovated to accommodate security and surveillance, computer rooms, and other gaming support services. Extensive maple millwork, decorative stained glass, lighting pendants and scounces, and signage reflect the equestrian heritage of Saratoga Springs. 'Perini has been fabulous on this project,'says Dan Gerrity, President, Saratoga Gaming and Raceway. 'Under the pressure of an extremely tight fast track schedule, Perini's on-site personnel were attentive to our needs and responsive to the challenges of the project.' 'Expansions and conversions are undertaken to revitalize and reposition facilities,'says Sam Sabin, Sr. Vice President, Perini Building Company. 'Our responsibility is to identify and eliminate uncertainties during preconstruction and to build a facility that is a symbol of pride for the entire team: Saratoga Gaming and Raceway; Jeter Cook &Jepson; the people and businesses of Saratoga Springs; the harness racing community; and New York State.' |
