Pentagon audit uncovers employee use of credit cards for gambling, sex

8 May 2015

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Pentagon employees paid for gambling and sex worker services using government issued credit cards an audit has found, according to a Politico report.

The purchases were made on work credit cards intended for travel expenses, the report said.

The user pays their own bills and then reclaims expenses from receipts, therefore it's suspected the cards were used mostly so such services could be procured surreptitiously from a spouse, the Politico report said.

Unauthorized purchases of this nature could be costing the government a great deal annually, Politico said.
