Pennsylvania women win holiday lottery15 November 2006MIDDLETOWN, Pennsylvania – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Three Minersville, Schuylkill County women will share the $500,000 top prize from "Wish List," one of the Pennsylvania Lottery's six new holiday-themed instant games. Ceremonial checks were presented today to sisters Allison and Angela Malusky and Laurie Bugdanavage, a friend of the Maluskys, at BG's Value Market, Kings Village Plaza, Rt. 901, where the winning ticket was purchased. The store will receive a $500 bonus for selling the winning ticket. The checks were presented by Lottery Area Manager Damon Baltimore and District Lottery Representative Chris Goodman. Angela Malusky purchased six $10 "Wish List" tickets - two for each of the three women - on Thursday, Nov. 2. The women scratched their tickets together that evening in Bugdanavage's kitchen. Bugdanavage, 38, a stay-at-home mother of two, said the win could not have come at a better time. A fire destroyed her family's home on Oct. 11. She plans to use some of her winnings immediately, to make a contribution to the local volunteer fire companies that responded to her house fire and to replace the clothes, furniture and belongings lost in the fire. She and her husband also plan to invest some of the winnings for their daughters' college educations. Angela Malusky, 26, an office manager at a local Waymart, says the three friends have been buying Lottery tickets together for some time. She plans to use her winnings to pay off student loans. Allison Malusky, 18, began her freshman year at Shippensburg University this fall. The psychology major plans to use winnings to help pay for her education. The three women decided to share the prize equally and will each receive $166,666.67, less 25 percent federal withholding. The Lottery's six new holiday-themed instant games offer more than $160 million in cash prizes this holiday season. The games range in price from $1 to $20 and include $1 Million Holiday Gold ($20), $500,000 Wish List ($10), Frosty's Fortune ($5), Tic-Tac-Mistledough ($3), Silver Bells ($2) and Snow Dough ($1). |
