Pennsylvania slot revenue rises more than 11 percent

5 November 2010

(PRESS RELEASE) -- The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board today reported that slot machine gross revenue increased by 11.49% this October over the same month a year ago. Slot machine play at 10 casinos produced gross revenue of $197,459,415 in October resulting in $107,995,234 of tax revenue returned to Commonwealth citizens. In October 2009, slot machine play at nine casinos generated $177,111,932 in gross revenue and $97,411,563 in tax revenue. Taxes from slot machine play fund property tax reduction, supports the Commonwealth's horse racing industry, finances economic development and tourism projects, and provides revenue to local governments and fire companies. The average number of slot machines operating statewide daily during October 2010 was 26,916 compared to 24,687 in October of 2009. The Board also announced an increase of 4.25% in its comparison of revenue figures for just the nine casinos operating in October 2010 that were also opened for the full month of October last year.
