Pennsylvania slot machine revenue up nearly 6% in December7 January 2015HARRISBURG, Pennsylvania -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board’s monthly slot machine revenue report for December of 2014 shows an increase of 5.82% in gross revenue generated over December of 2013. The report has been posted on the Board’s web site. According to the report, the play of slot machines at the 12 casinos produced over $10 million more in gross revenue this year, $188,426,686, compared to the $178,059,128 in gross revenue generated in December of last year. The average combined number of slot machines operating daily was 26,377 in December of 2014 compared to 26,591 in December of 2013. About the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board: The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board was established in 2004 and is tasked to oversee all aspects of the state’s casino industry. There are 10 stand-alone and racetrack casinos in operation, along with the two resort casinos. These facilities collectively employ over 17,700 people and generate an average of $3.7 million per day in tax revenue from slot machine and table games play. The largest portion of that money is used for property tax reduction to all Pennsylvania homeowners with additional tax revenue going to the horse racing industry, economic development projects, fire companies, county fairs, water and sewer projects, the Commonwealth’s General Fund, and to local governments that host casinos. |
