Pennsylvania Private Club Members Receive Prison Terms

PENNSYLVANIA – As reported by the Morning Call: "The men at the center of the Order of Fleas club gambling case received federal prison terms Thursday, even after the judge heard words of praise from a church deacon and Sal Panto, a former mayor of Easton.

"Habouk Shumar will spend 33 months in prison and Anthony Hanni will spend 24 months in prison for overseeing a mini-empire of illegal video poker machines, Judge Franklin Van Antwerpen ruled.

"The sentence closed the book on the federal prosecution surrounding the Order of Fleas, a private club on Easton's South Side whose members include blue collar dads and local politicians.

"In addition to the prison terms, Hanni and Shumar each received a $250,000 fine.

"…This is Shumar's fifth gambling conviction and Hanni's second…"
