Pennsylvania Man Wins PowerPlay Prize

2 October 2006

MIDDLETOWN, Pennsylvania – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Ronald A. Cline of Waterford, Erie County, is one of Pennsylvania's newest millionaires, having matched 5- of-5 winning Powerball numbers to win the second-tier prize in the Sept. 16 drawing. The $200,000 prize was multiplied by the drawing's PowerPlay number, 5, for a total prize of $1 million cash, less 25 percent federal withholding.

Quality Market, 328 East Grandview Blvd., Erie, sold Cline his winning ticket. The store will receive a $5,000 selling bonus from the Pennsylvania Lottery.

Pennsylvania, Colorado and Nebraska were the only Powerball jurisdictions to sell winning PowerPlay tickets worth $1 million in the Sept. 16 drawing. Nine other jurisdictions sold Powerball tickets that matched 5-of-5 winning numbers worth $200,000 each. Powerball tickets are sold in 31 participating jurisdictions - 29 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The Powerball jackpot has been won twice in the last two drawings. One ticket sold in Iowa matched all six winning numbers to win the Sept. 23 jackpot worth $200.8 million. In the next Powerball drawing on Sept. 27, one ticket sold in Kansas won the $15 million jackpot. Neither prize has been claimed at this time. The Powerball jackpot returns to $15 million for tomorrow night's drawing.
