Pennsylvania Lottery Launches New Promotion

MIDDLETOWN, Pennsylvania – (PRESS RELEASE) -- The Pennsylvania Lottery will sponsor a "Go for the Green" bonus Daily Number promotion from July 19 through July 31, 2004. For 13 days, a bonus drawing will determine whether Lottery officials draw one or two sets of winning numbers for The Daily Number mid-day and evening drawings.

During each mid-day and nightly Daily Number drawing between July 19 and 31, Lottery officials will conduct a separate drawing. The ball machine for the separate drawing will contain four white balls and one green ball. If the green ball is drawn, Lottery officials will draw a second winning three-digit Daily Number. The Pennsylvania Lottery will pay out prizes for both sets of winning numbers.

When a white ball is drawn, it will be removed from the bonus drawing machine. White balls will continue to be removed until the green ball is selected. Once the green ball is selected and a bonus Daily number drawing is conducted, all four white balls and the green ball will be returned to the bonus drawing machine.

Each Daily Number combination is unique and independent of the other Daily Number combinations drawn. Players may not use a number from the first Daily Number drawing in combination with numbers from the bonus Daily Number drawing. Bonus drawings for mid-day draws will be performed independently of bonus drawings for the evening Daily Number.

The last time the Pennsylvania Lottery sponsored a Daily Number promotion was in May 1999. During May, a "Two-for-Tuesdays" promotion featured two Daily Number drawings each Tuesday.

The Pennsylvania Lottery remains the only state Lottery that designates all its proceeds to programs that benefit older residents. Since its inception more than 32 years ago, the Lottery has contributed more than $13.8 billion to programs that include property tax and rent rebates; free and reduced-fare transit; the low-cost prescription drug programs PACE and PACENET; and the 52 Area Agencies on Aging, including 650 full- and part-time senior centers throughout Pennsylvania. The Lottery reminds its players to play responsibly. Players must be 18 or older.
