Pennsylvania Governor Doesn't Predict Legalized Slots

HARRISBURG, Pennsylvania – As reported by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: "Gov. Ed Rendell is becoming more and more frustrated at the glacial pace of talks with the Legislature over expanded gambling and the property tax reduction it would bring.

"In an interview with state Capitol reporters today, he virtually conceded that his latest target date for getting slot machines legalized -- the April 27 primary -- will pass without action by lawmakers.

"…But with two legislative session days next week the last ones in April, Rendell conceded the chances of passage before the primary are slim to none…"
