Pennsylvania gaming revenues grow

HARRISBURG, Pennsylvania -- As reported by the Pocono Record: "State gaming revenues continued to grow last week, but some figures may suggest the state's young slots business could be reaching its saturation point.

"Statewide revenues grew 18 percent last week to almost $40 million. But without newly opened Sands Bethlehem, the state's second stand alone casino, revenues were up just 5 percent.

"And the overall growth didn't keep up with the jump in slot machines. Last week, 21,857 machines were in operation at the state's eight licensed casinos. That's 31 percent more than the same period a year ago.

"The average daily revenue per machine dropped from $288 to $260, a 10 percent decrease.

"Mount Airy saw revenues fall 5 percent to $3.2 million last week. The Sands Bethlehem reported revenues of $4.3 million..."
