Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board releases Table Games Revenue figures for May29 June 2012HARRISBURG, Pennsylvania -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board today posted on its website the revenue figures for May table games play at the eleven operating casinos. With an average of 1,031 tables in daily operation statewide during May, gross revenue from the play of all table games was $55,219,978. That amount was 7.4% higher than in May 2011 when revenue totaled $51,401,083 with an average of 891 tables operating on a daily basis. Tax revenue generated to the Commonwealth's General Fund from table games (14% of gross revenue) during May was $7,875,385. In addition, table games contributed tax revenue to the Local Share Fund (2% of gross table revenue) of $1,104,400 during May. The report includes information on each casino by non-banked, banked and electronic tables including gross revenue, taxes generated and the number of table games in operation. In addition to this report, the Board also posts monthly slot machine revenue reports on its web site. About the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board: The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board was established in 2004 with the passage of Act 71, also known as the Race Horse Development and Gaming Act. Pennsylvania's first new state agency in nearly 40 years, the Gaming Control Board is tasked to oversee all aspects of the state's casino industry. The 11 casinos in operation all offer both slot machine and table game gambling, employ over 16,000 people, and collectively have generated more than $6.5 billion in tax and license fee revenue since the first casino opened in November 2006. A portion of that money has delivered property tax reduction in each of the past 5 years for all Pennsylvania homeowners; provided funding to the Commonwealth's horse racing industry, fire companies, water/sewer projects, and the state's General Fund; and, established a new stream of tax revenue to local governments for community projects. |
