Pennsylvania Gambling Vote Delayed

PENNSYLVANIA – As reported by the Morning Call: "Bethlehem City Council will not vote tonight on a law to ban gambling on the former Bethlehem Steel site, council President Michael Schweder said in a brief interview Monday.

"Schweder said he was worried that hundreds of residents interested in offering input on the proposed amendment may attend tonight's meeting. He said that the measure, by law, cannot be considered until 30 days after it is introduced.

"Councilman Gordon Mowrer said Friday that he and Councilman Joseph Leeson Jr. plan to introduce tonight an amendment to ban gambling on the former Steel site. The measure could block a $300 million slots project proposed for the former Steel ore yard on the South Side…"
