Pennsylvania Casino Proposals Move Forward

PENNSYLVANIA – As reported by the Pocono Record: "The two proposed casino projects in the Poconos each took a step forward Wednesday.

"The land development plan for Mount Airy Lodge was submitted to Paradise Township, while the developers of Pocono Manor said they plan to start their gaming operation with a temporary casino, which could be up and running within months if Pocono Manor receives a gaming license.

"Businessman Louis DeNaples, owner of Mount Airy Lodge in Paradise Township, and real estate developer Greg Matzel, owner of Pocono Manor in Tobyhanna Township, will compete with five other developers for two available licenses to open a 'standalone' slots casino, with up to 5,000 slot machines. The state Gaming Control Board plans to issue the licenses later this year…"
