Pennsylvania casino numbers exceed expectations

PENNSYLVANIA – As reported by the Connecticut Day: "Just two months after opening its doors, gamblers have pumped more than $250 million into the slot machines at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, according to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.

"That translated into a win for the casino of $25 million, or an average of $422 a day for each of its 1,099 machines, exceeding the expectations of the state and its owner, the Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority.

" 'We're very satisfied with the results and the performance of the property,' said Mohegan Sun Chairman and Chief Executive Mitchell Etess. In November, casino officials told analysts that they were projecting a $325 daily win per unit.

"…According to the Pennsylvania gaming board, Mohegan Sun's slot machines took in $250.3 million through the week of Jan. 1, and paid out $225.2 million to gamblers. In the first week of this month, the state's most recent figures, the casino won $3.5 million for an average daily win per game of $457…"
