Pennsylvania casino cited for violations

PENNSYLVANIA – As reported by the Philadeliphia Inquirer: "Philadelphia Park yesterday became the first casino to be cited for violation of state gambling regulations.

"An official said that how the Gaming Control Board ultimately rules in the case could set a precedent for its future enforcement actions. The first of an expected 14 slot-machine casinos in Pennsylvania began operations in November. Philadelphia Park has been open since December.

"The state cited the Bensalem casino for two violations, including having an unlicensed worker on the casino floor. The citation resulted from a highly publicized incident Jan. 20 in which a Feasterville carpenter was denied what appeared to be a $102,000 payout at a slot machine.

"Five days later, in what it called a goodwill gesture, Philadelphia Park paid Stephen Wilkinson the money. But that did not stop the board yesterday from citing the casino.

"The citation opens a judicial process at the Gaming Board that could ultimately result in hefty fines.

"…In the first alleged violation, the board essentially faulted the casino for failing to have complete control over the correctness and security of its internal systems…"
