Pennsylvania board releases opinions

HARRISBURG, Pennsylvania -– (PRESS RELEASE) -- The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board today publicly released on its web site the adjudication documents that contain the opinions for its selection of awards to the five Category 2 slot machine operator's licenses.

The adjudications are available to the public by visiting the Gaming Control Board's web site http://www.pgcb.state.pa.us, and choosing the special link on the home page titled "Category 2 Adjudications."

On December 20, 2006, the Board conducted a vote at its open, public meeting to award 5 stand-alone licenses from among 13 applicants in Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and at-large tourism-enhanced locations. The Gaming Law, known as Act 71, mandated that the Board award licenses to 2 facilities in Philadelphia, 1 in Pittsburgh, and 2 in At-Large locations in any other parts of the Commonwealth. Awards made in this category were:

- Philadelphia: HSP Gaming, LP (SugarHouse Casino) and Philadelphia Entertainment & Development Partners, LP (Foxwoods Casino)

- Pittsburgh: PITG Gaming, LLC (Majestic Star)

- At-Large: Mount Airy, LLC and Sands Bethworks Gaming, LLC

This vote occurred following the nearly yearlong collection of written and publicly delivered information from citizens, public officials, and applicants. The decisions written in the adjudication documents reflect the Board's review of this voluminous information in exercising its discretionary authority to select the applicants which it believes will best serve the Commonwealth's and the public's interest as outlined in Act 71.
