Pennsylvania Board Rejects 3 Applications

HARRISBURG, Pennsylvania – As reported by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: "Thamer Collins' plan to build a slot machine casino in West Homestead faced long odds from the get-go, but yesterday state gaming regulators slammed the door completely.

"The seven-member Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board refused to consider his application for a casino license because he failed to provide two key pieces of financial information.

"…The board also refused to consider two other casino license bids yesterday, one by Alco Parking President Merrill Stabile and another by a group in Lancaster. Mr. Stabile had recently said he was dropping out of the casino competition.

"The board's rejection of the three applications reduces to 22 the number of bidders remaining for the 14 casino licenses to be issued in Pennsylvania…"
