Pechanga Casino High Roller Lounge a Hit

CALIFORNIA – As reported by the California Press-Enterprise: "Feeding C-notes into a $100-per-pull slot machine at the Pechanga Resort and Casino on a recent Thursday night, John Hamid sized up the chandeliers and waterfalls in the VIP lounge around him, though his eyes hardly left the spinning reels.

"…Hamid and dozens of others were gambling at the casino's invitation-only grand opening of its new high-stakes room earlier this month. Boasting 12 table games and 235 machines, it is the largest room of its kind in Inland Southern California.

"And while the room occupies less than 10 percent of the casino's 188,000-square-foot gaming area, its significance goes beyond its size.

"Red Wootan, Pechanga's director of slots operations, said the room is likely to attract the most visitors -- about 175 at a time on weeknights and 325 at a time on weekends.

"The casino does not release specifics on how much money is generated in various parts of the casino. Even so, Pechanga spokeswoman Audra Merrell says just a handful of high rollers can bring in a disproportionate share of a casino's revenue, so it's important to keep the big money players happy.

"In addition to luxurious decor -- including private bathrooms and flat-screen televisions at the bar -- the casino brought in a feng shui master to make the room more hospitable to Asian gamblers, who make up a large portion of the casino's big spenders, Merrell said…"
